About Tim Fitzsimons
Tim Fitzsimons is a Brooklyn-based freelance journalist. From 2018 to 2022, he reported for NBC News Digital, covering the breaking news and LGBTQ beats. He earned a master’s from Columbia Journalism School, where his thesis focused on a member of the Proud Boys .
Before NBC, Tim worked as a producer and reporter at NPR News in Washington, covering local and domestic stories. At Marketplace Radio, he filed daily radio segments on politics and finance for millions of listeners. Internationally, Tim served as an editor for Al-Monitor in Beirut, managing a team of translators and editing content on Middle East affairs, and he also supported NPR’s Beirut bureau with field production for their award-winning coverage of the Syrian Civil War.
His work has appeared in NPR, BBC, The Economist, and Newsweek, with photography credits in GQ and The New York Post. Tim speaks English, Spanish, and conversational Arabic.
